1997 Harley Davidson Heritage Springer Softail
Once upon a time when our GIs home from the Second World War, they realize that motorcycles are available to them for the big time, the lush and beautiful. They are also big, heavy and slow – Bicycle built for respectable parents, instead of twenty-something rebels. Hell of war, it is time to cut too much, have fun and cool. Big fat bike was definitely not cool.

Because the right bike is not available, these brave GIs who decide to create your own. They start cutting things off, it, big motorcycles and heavy. Things like heavy fenders, bags, and even front brakes. They call this bike “helicopter”. And they cut the bike look a lot like something from the 1997 FLSTS, aka Heritage Softail Springer.
Major sports, full metal fender skirts, fringe-laden pockets and springer front end of a classic, this wheel comes straight from 1948 – Panhead the first year and last to the factory set-up jumper. Like the original, built from 1997-HD version for a respectable parents. The kind that just happens to be a large percentage of new Harley buyers.
In recreating the past, to see the Motor Company to the smallest detail, but also has attracted a pair of bold-colored glasses. In rare cases the original can not be compared with saline. In fact, if you really examine the old Panhead, through how they look fragile than surprising.
They are certainly reliable bikes for their time, but in the time when cost is a problem and not all images were born. Instead, everything in FLSTS heavy duty, designed for beauty and chromed to within an inch of his life. During the open wire, untreated metal parts and, of course, that the saddle sprung floating 10 inches above the frame.
The ’97 Heritage Springer is an impressive looking machine. A breakdown of the bike. It benefits from the fact that it was designed in an era where the cost is basically not a problem for bikes with HD logo. The original Pan does not have that luxury. For example, after two fender looking for the best draft ever beat the good people at Harley design department saw a front marker lights and rear running light cartoons, making fenders just that much more impressive.
Other details of the horn. Prominently displayed in front, at the end of the flap, this is a brilliant representation of the original. And it works great. Nice and loud, and instead of pointing straight down into the left boot. What’s so bad about the bike that looks like a Heritage Softail with new fenders and front grafted on a springer? Well, springer forks, which was designed in 1988 after the slender 21-inch tires.
Bicycle nostalgia demanding 16-inch fat tires. The creation of these proved to be a little more complicated than simply as an extension of the existing setup jumper. Extra heavy 16-inch tires need to be changed geometry (ie rake & trail). HP engineers to the task, though, and develop a new front-end, modern rock solid at speed on the highway. Also in Montana.
