ENERGICA EVA FIRST LOOK

Energica goes naked with its all-new, all-electric Eva

With the popularity of naked bikes growing at a staggering rate, it was only a matter of time before Energica Motor Company jumped on board with a streetfighter model of its own. At EICMA 2014, the manufacturer displayed alongside a trio of Ego models, the new, all-electric Energica Eva.




Company representatives say that the Eva is “developed on the same platform as the Energica Ego,” an all-electric superbike which makes use of an oil-cooled, magnet AC motor, 11.7 kWh air-cooled batteries, and vehicle control unit that’s developed in house and opens the door to four separate riding modes plus four distinct regen settings. While the Ego’s motor is claimed to produce roughly 136 horsepower and 144 ft-pounds of torque, it’s suggested that the Eva will run on a slightly different tune for increased range. For reference, the Ego was claimed to have a 100 mile range if ridden in a “considerate” manner.


The Eva will likely have the same electronicsettings as the Energica Ego, which has four riding modes—Sport, Standard, Eco, and Rain—in addition to four regen settings—Off, Low, Medium, and High—that are switchable on the fly.
While the Ego was characterized by an aggressively designed set of bodywork and heavily angled clip-ons that were more meant for the track, the Eva will feature no more body panels than what’s needed to cover important hardware. A modestly bent one-piece handlebar will provide a more upright riding position.







Energica did not announce pricing information on the Eva, but says that the plan is to begin producing the bike as early as 2016. The Ego and ultra-limited Ego 45 retail for $34,000 and $68,000 respectively, and we’d imagine the Eva will undercut that price tag.
